Keeping aside Quantum Electro-Dynamics (QED), I believe there should exist a General Relativity like geometrical interpretation of electro-magnetic forces experienced and caused by electrical charges. There could be an all permeating electro-magnetic field in our universe which is perturbed or better said distorted by the presence of charged particles in it. This distortion is detected only by particles which respond to the perturbations in the field and are created by this field.

It is obvious that these would be electric charges. Just like matter follows geodesics in the curved space-time geometry giving the notion of the presence of a force called gravity; linearly and uniformly travelling charges respond to the curvatures caused in the electromagnetic field fabric by other charges and are attracted or repelled by them.

More on this Later. Let the plausibility of this idea settle-in  for the time being.

Answer me Electrostatics!

Any given solid angle can have infinitely many field lines passing through it. Which means as we go away from a point charge we always have ‘infinity/area’ as the surface field density(through some imaginary surface). This is logical and appears more real than the assumption of a fixed number of field lines passing through a given solid angle. In such a case, how does one explain that the field intensity decreases as one goes away from the point charge in terms of Gauss’ Law?

Non-static interpretation of the Coulomb’s Law

Coulomb’s Law is the basis of electrostatics. While deriving the law we consider the observer to be sharing the reference frame of one of the two point charges. Therefore, for the observer, one of the charges is at rest while the other charge moves in the electric field of the static charge. Many books explain this geometrical setup by calling one charge ‘fixed’ at a position, while the other moving towards or away from it. This explanation implicitly  assumes the observer to be sharing positions with one of the charges, hence the ‘fixed at position’  assumption. Continue reading

The Model Rocket design, the base for all the rockets I  build (which will be dealt with in some later post) is employed here too while constructing a recovery-mechanism enabled, single-stage rocket; colloquially called the ‘parachute-rocket’. In subsequent posts I share my experiences, methods and all other details of the work done in preparing one component of the parachute-rocket.Developing this component is time consuming and demands ingenuity. This component is  fragile yet a very important part of the recovery mechanism. It is aptly named the ‘Delay Charge’.

This post deals with the elementary meaning of the words ‘delay charge’, the biases held by me before beginning the experiments, the reason for these, the testing methods employed and their utility. Continue reading

Thus Quoth Immanuel Kant

For neither co-existence nor succession would be perceived by us, if the representation of time did not exist as a foundation a priori. Without this presupposition we could not represent to ourselves that things exist together at one and the same time, or at different times, that is, contemporaneously, or in succession.

Thoughts On Time

The Tension’s increased now. You can’t understand why your ‘H.G. Wells’ Style time machine to the past won’t work. You try to push down the start button, but it won’t budge! You think this ‘out-of-the-world’ invention of yours needs an ‘out-of-the-world’ place, so you send it over to the junkyard where some kids find it one day and cook their own science-fiction tales ! You haven’t actually given up. Instead you’ve built another cranking machine that creates a dazzling white orb that is capable of sending you to the future! YES, I said ‘THE FUTURE’! You don’t look impressed, especially after the ‘back-in-time disaster’  you expect nothing better from this machine. To be sincere, I would have to say that you are very right! It seems  funny yet the reason your machines don’t work is that they actually work!  Let me show you the truth hidden in there.

Thoughts On Time

Continuing from the last post where I introduced you to notsoscientific and the ‘time-travel teddy-bear’ we human beings love to cuddle with, let me now explain why you should keep that cute little teddy back in the drawer and grow out of it.

Using nothing more than the layman’s language and intelligence I have deduced that time travel to the past is impossible; or rather the time-traveller makes it impossible. Confused? Read on.
